Fiber Art
Intro to Traditional Tapestry
Tapestry weaving is a hand-manipulated technique of creating cloth that involves working with short, dis-continous lengths of yarn, allowing artists to play around with disrupting repeating patterns within their fiber art. This technique allows artists to, in essence, paint with their fiber. In this class, students will work on a series of small, 4″ x 4″ pieces to learn and perfect tapestry weaving techniques. We’ll discuss sketching designs, loom warping, choosing yarns, and finishing techniques.
