Handbuilt Heirloom Objects

There are precious objects in our lives that over time grow into touchstones of memories, people we love, and times we wish we could return to. In this workshop with artist Liz Wells, we will memorialize and celebrate these objects with personal meaning by recreating them out of clay. Participants will be asked to come to the first session with ideas, pictures, or physical objects holding sentimental value. This class series will work through hand building renderings of these objects on a medium-to-large scale, exploring how to represent the larger-than-life places these objects hold in our lives through physicality and form. Tuition includes clay, glazes, and firings. Students should have a prior foundation in handbuilding techniques.
