Laura Jean McLaughlin

Resident Artist
Clay & Mosaic Artist

I am a ceramic sculptor, printmaker and mosaic artist who is extremely active in my studio as well as teaching in schools and communities.

My artwork is currently being exhibited at Borelli Edwards Gallery in Pittsburgh, PA, Penland Gallery in North Carolina, Sherri Gallery in Columbus Ohio and was exhibited at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh as part of a benefit auction in November 2013. In September 2013 I presented a clay demonstration and gave talks on mosaic and clay residencies at an International Clay Conference (Scan Ceram 2013) in Denmark as well as conducted a ceramic workshop with Kevin Snipes in Ireland.

Over the last three years, I have created approximately 20 new mosaic public murals and sculptures working with students and communities as well as have exhibited my ceramic sculptures in a dozen exhibitions including the Ogden Museum in New Orleans, LA and the Scan Ceram conference in Tolne, Denmark.

I love working as a teaching artist in the Artist Residency program because it is exciting collaborating with people and seeing their amazing ideas come into fruition. I truly enjoy teaching and love interacting and learning from participants in the program. It really enriches my personal artwork and I love the results of the collaborative pieces that we create.

Student work from a Residency Project with Laura Jean McLaughlin at Quaker Valley Middle School. Middle school students created mosaics, ceramic self-portrait sculptures, and visited PCA&M for a raku firing of some of their work.
