Jayla Patton
Jayla Patton (BA, Animation, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh) is an illustrator, comic artist, animator and arts educator from the city of Pittsburgh. She enjoys creating comics and illustrations using traditional mediums as well as digital ones, like Photoshop. Never without a sketchbook and pencil, Jayla travels the city to teach art, animation, and illustration to young people in a different neighborhood almost every day of the week.

Jayla was a Visiting Artist for this dynamic Residency Project with Resident Artist and papermaker Katy DeMent. Jayla shared her craft with students at both participating schools, showing them illustration and cartooning techniques for creating layouts and characters, inking, and adding color with watercolors:
