My creative practice is the place where I have found the most healing throughout my life. I believe strongly that every person has the ability and skill to engage in a creative life. Education is the biggest gateway to creating a longstanding creative practice for many, especially when it comes to less accessible, more equipment reliant crafts. My introduction to clay changed everything about the way I make with all materials and I see the effect this material has had on my life in just the past 6 years with so much sincerity.
The introduction to clay was pivotal for me, and it is this that excites me in the opportunity to offer a student the material their brain and body has been longing to discover. Another element of my excitement to teach is the opportunity to give students a space to work through their emotions in a therapeutic way. I believe creative endeavors are a way to have emotional reflection, and build emotional maturity.
