Curtis Reaves

Resident Artist
Photographer

He is a multi-media artist and community educator who utilizes photography, video, technology and printmaking to empower youth in the exploration of creativity, heritage and social change. Each residency is an infusion of community, found natural objects and symbolic images. His mission is to plant creative seeds wherever he goes to empower the next generation of artists.

He is listed on the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts roster of qualified teaching artists. He has conducted residencies from middle to high school students and has held a four-year residency with Gateway to the Arts through the YMCA’s Lighthouse Project at Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh, Pa. Additionally, the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation selected him as a Millennium Artist, and his work has been exhibited at esteemed museums and galleries across the United States.

Routinely, he works with teachers and program directors on implementing various aspects of STEAM Educational Methods. He takes ordinary objects, shapes, and textures, and then teaches students to visually manipulate and connect them to mathematical equations and scientific strategies in bold new ways.
