Bryan DeProspero

Instructor

Bryan DeProspero is an artist and educator based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He received his BFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where he focused on classical approaches to drawing and painting, and earned his MFA in Interdisciplinary Fine Arts from the University of Delaware. He has spent nearly five years teaching drawing, painting, and foundations courses at the university level. An actively exhibiting artist, Bryan’s teaching emphasizes strong technical skills, close observation, and the development of an individual visual language, encouraging students to balance craftsmanship with experimentation. As a practicing artist, Bryan creates paintings and drawings that merge different processes with symbolic imagery and layered subject matter. His work is informed by mythology, literature, poetry, and the history of painting, exploring themes of transformation, memory, symbolism, and the tension between order and chance. Through an intuitive process of construction, revision, and discovery, his paintings develop their own visual narratives, inviting viewers to engage with the relationship between material, image, and meaning.
