Now Hiring: Artist Services Manager
Position summary:
Artist Services Manager serves as the liaison and logistics coordinator for vendors/artists involved with (3) artist markets and (4) exhibitions annually as well as managing/maintaining the retail Shop. The Artist Services Manager will provide administrative support for the organization by being involved as the main point of contact for all artists/vendors included in events, exhibitions and artists represented by our Shop. Besides communication, the Artists Services Manager will also be required to install/de-install artwork in exhibitions and maintain inventory related to the Shop. The Artist Services Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to present high quality exhibitions 4 times a year.
The ongoing thread that is a primary focus to this position is maintaining the inventory and appearance of our retail/consignment Shop. Knowledge of retail strategies and a Point of Sale system are helpful in this position.
This position will sometimes require evening and weekend work when there are events. The Artist Services Manager will work 40 hours per week; one of those days can be fully remote unless the Manager has to be present for an opening or market. This position will be a part of the Creative Team and be expected to participate in creative team meetings on Monday mornings.
This position will provide participating artists a stronger consistency in communication, allow for a well-curated and managed Shop, and be essential for the continuation of high quality exhibitions and artist markets.
The position pays $42,000 – $45,000 per year with a competitive benefits package including PTO and healthcare coverage (including dental and vision).
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Provide general support services for artists and vendors and be the liaison between the participants and staff and Executive Director.
- Manage and maintain a high quality retail Shop that supports and represents local artists.
- Enter inventory in our POS Square system.
- Communicate directly to and with the front desk staff to coordinate pick up and drop off of artworks.
- Be available before/during and/or after events such as: break down and/or set up of chairs, tables, and/or temporary structures. This may include evenings and/or weekends.
- Notify/communicate with all vendors/artists for confirmation or rejection as it relates to an event or exhibition in a timely way.
- Be persistent with participating artists and/or vendors so as to keep to specific schedules for dropping off artwork, setting up for events, picking up artwork, etc.
- Participate in panel selection with creative team for jury process of specific events.
- Install/de-install artwork included in exhibitions.
- Repair and patch gallery walls as needed between exhibitions.

Physical demands and work environment:
- Incumbent will be required to use a computer with keyboard, telephone or handheld mobile device for extended periods of time.
- Individual may occasionally be required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Individual will be required to use basic hand tools and/or power tools appropriate to a specific project.
Work Days and Shifts:
Position works 40 hours per week and may include evenings and/or weekends as needed. One day a week can be completely remote.
Education/Certification(s)/License(s) required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 Years experience in a similar or related field
- Interest in art/artistic practice/artist opportunities
- Experience in an art gallery/museum setting is preferred but not required.
Experience in a retail setting is preferred but not required.
