Creative Writing
Writing Memoir
In this generative writing class we will be writing our own life stories. Prompts are designed to stimulate imagination and memory, and to invite you to call forth your own material, some of which you don’t even know you have. You’ll also deepen your knowledge and practice, each week, of one element of craft. The class takes as its premise the notion that writing can be transformative, that memory is like clay to be shaped and re-shaped, and that writers of every level benefit from connection with others pursuing the art. We will work to develop into a supportive community that inspires all. I’ve facilitated such classes countless times, and it’s amazing how each time, writers discover how much easier it is to write when they have a community of people who are rooting for them. You might be a writer with little or no experience, a writer who has been creating for many years, or a professional; the class can accommodate all.
