Narrative Vessels

We all have a favorite story, one that has been passed down by family, one of our own creation, or one that has existed throughout time. No matter what it may be, you can use functional ceramics as the vessel for that story! In this class, students will focus on handbuilding one or two functional objects. You will be taught how to add dimensions to a simple surface and how to carve illustrations into the clay at the right time. We will strategize together how to connect the functional object to the narrative to create a cohesive, meaningful piece. Prior clay experience is required. Clay and underglaze provided. Please come to the first class with a few stories and functional forms in mind.
