Fundamentals of Fiction Craft: Characters

In this short class, we’ll tackle what the basics of what makes a character, a character. We will explore how characters are best assigned to the roles of “major and minor,” “flat and round,” “static and dynamic.” We will discuss how to add nuance and depth to our major characters and how best to keep our minor characters in a role akin to furniture or setting. We’ll explore how best to take full possession of our readers’ attention using a character’s desire, actions, and nuanced conflicts that add real depth to our major players.

This class will be held online, via Zoom.
