Directing the Short
A guide to taking your script to screen. Students must have a polished short script or sketch and some basic knowledge of the short format, even from Instagram stories and youtube videos. We will cover script breakdown, revising a script for the screen, technical language, stylistic choices, and tone, shot lists, communicating emotional intention to actors, directing the edit. This class will also cover the approach to navigating the film festival circuit. Written and visual exercises will aim to further illustrate learning objectives. Exposure to local actors, directors of photography, and editors will provide an opportunity to learn how to communicate your vision with a cast and crew.
