Basketweaving: Exploring Flat Reed Plaiting

Join us for this intermediate workshop for students who already have basketweaving experience and a little practice under their belt. During this four-day hands-on workshop, we’ll explore four basketweaving techniques typically woven with flat and flat oval reed: checkerwork/plaiting, twilling, diagonal plaiting, and hexagonal plaiting. We’ll focus on one technique each class, weaving a plaited market basket, a twilled planter, a square-to-round diagonal plaited basket, and a hexagonal plaited root vegetable basket.
