Ceramic Residency Program
Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media offers two 4 month residency programs per year. A Fall opportunity from September to December and a Spring session from January to April. Residents may apply for the full 8 months. Applicants should have a BFA in ceramics or have an established practice and body of work. PCA&M will provide a semi private studio space, access to all PCAM equipment*, 400 pounds of studio clay per session, studio glazes , access to all studio firings, teaching opportunities and an exit exhibition. PCA&M residents do not pay fees or receive stipends.
Residents are required to work 15 hours per week on studio maintenance, present one workshop for members and the public, and be an active member of our studio community. Residents should plan to complete one studio improvement project based on their interest and skills.
Applicants should send a resume, artist statement, 10 images of their work, and a letter of intent to Ceramics coordinator Audra Clayton ( firstname.lastname@example.org). A letter of intent (1000 words or less) should share what residents hope to gain from the residency and what skills they are prepared to share.

*PCAM’s ceramic studios are equipped with 3 electric kilns, cone 10 downdraft gas kiln, soda kiln, raku kiln, studio cone 10/6 glazes, spray booth, 2 extruders , 2 slab rollers, glaze lab, 14 shared studio wheels, pug mill, bench grinder, and a photo booth for documentation. Shared residency/tech space has 4 dedicated shelves and a work table for the resident and a shared wheel. Limited access to print/small metals/photography studios, and computer lab.
Applicants may apply to do both the fall and spring residency, with possibility of renewal of 1 term.
