Open Basketweaving Studio

Join Traycee Bosle for this 4-week open studio in basketweaving! Students will have the opportunity to select from a variety of projects Traycee has designed, having the freedom to build upon skills of their choosing under her guidance in this relaxed, informal class. Previous experience is required. Materials can be purchased from the instructor on the first day of class for a fee of $25.

Open Studio: Figure Drawing

Join us for this 3-hour figure drawing session with live models to practice your figure drawing skills. PCA&M drawing instructor Heather Heitzenrater will guide the sessions with general directions, but participants will work independently and no formal instruction will take place. This open studio is recommended for students who have prior experience with figure drawing or who feel comfortable working on their own during the session.

Darkroom Collective

Join Erin Bechtold for this weekly meeting of film photographers where a peer atmosphere is encouraged. Work independently with instructor assistance in all aspects of film photography from shooting to processing, printing, and scanning. Assignments, location shoots, and critiques will create opportunities for artistic growth. Students must have previous darkroom photography experience, along with their own camera, paper, and ink. This offering is for analog, film photography only.

Plein Air Open Studio

Join local artist, Joshua Hoffman, for this special summer-edition painting studio focused on painting outdoors. Students will work independently with the opportunity to receive guidance and feedback from Josh as they work on self-guided projects around PCA&M’s Mellon Park campus. This is perfect for students and community members who painted with us during our April Plein Air Paint-out, who would like more time to paint outdoors with a local landscape painter. While Josh will be available to assist students, there will not be any formal instruction during this open studio.

Podcasting Open Studio

Current and former podcasting students who would like more time in PCA&M’s studio can sign up for this open studio. Work independently with guidance from instructor, Casey Georgi! This is a great supplement if you’re enrolled in Intro to Podcasting and would like more time to dive into projects or if you already took Intro to Podcasting and would like more time to develop your ideas and bring them to fruition.

Painting Open Studio

The Painting Open Studio allows students time and space to create new and unique paintings in a group setting. All students will be given the freedom to explore various painting techniques and ideas. The instructor will provide guidance to assist students in exploring and creating art to their highest potential. This is perfect for experienced painters who are self-guided in their practice and are looking for in-the-moment feedback from a long-time PCA&M instructor and fellow painters.

Student Painting/Drawing Access

Enjoy extra time in the studio during open, unmonitored studio hours. Start new projects or finish missed work from class! Students must be enrolled in a 2023 Winter drawing or painting class to sign up. Please note there will be no additional instruction during this time.

Student Photography Access

For students currently enrolled in photography classes, we now offer additional studio time during the term! Sign up for limited access to our studios to work on additional projects outside of class and continue to hone your skills. This is a great option for students interested in a full photography access membership, but aren’t sure if they’re ready to sign up. PCA&M’s Media Equipment Tech, Bridget McKenna will be at the front desk and available to assist in any issues.

Students must be enrolled in a Fall 2024 darkroom photography class to enroll.
