Print Like Andy (8-10)

Learn the magic of screenprinting in this camp inspired by Pittsburgh artist, Andy Warhol! We’ll talk about the Pop Art movement, artists influenced by Andy Warhol, and Andy’s major works. We’ll take photographs and hand-drawn designs from paper to print, making posters, t-shirts, and more.

Metal Masterpieces (8-10)

Learn the fundamentals of working with metals in this jewelry-based camp. Acquire a wide range of skills by learning construction and texturizing methods like etching, embossing, and enameling. You’ll make some awesome handcrafted accessories and jewelry pieces to take home with you.

Clay Masterpieces

Sink your hands into the world of ceramics! Develop fundamental, ceramic skills as you experiment with various processes of creating clay artwork. Start off with experimenting with air-dry and paper clays to design pieces built to withstand the heat of a kiln. Sketch and build prototypes of ideas through drawing, painting, and sculpting. Personalize projects with glazes before they’re fired in the kiln. (Due to the drying and firing time needed to complete a ceramic piece, artworks may need to be picked up at a later date).

Painting Explorations

Explore a next level experience by using materials such as charcoal, conte crayon, acrylic paints, and watercolors to create pieces that explore the elements and principles of art. Create a self-portrait on canvas board and explore collaging with mixed media on alternative canvases. Spend the week pushing the boundaries of what you already know about art and dive into new ways to use familiar materials.

Puppetmaking (Ages 8-10)

Create different styles of puppets with different mediums of art! Some include shadow puppets, sock puppets, and marionettes! We also will create a set and story for a final performance.

Art History Explorations (Ages 8-10)

Take a leap through time in this art history-based class! Each week we will explore different artists from various eras of art. We will learn about prominent artists and their work, the period of art they influenced, and create our own masterpieces inspired by the greats!

Claymation Creations

Learn how to create your own movie using claymation, the popular animation technique used in films such as Coraline and Wallace and Gromit! Campers will use tablets, clay, and Adobe editing software to make their own short movies, complete with a soundtrack. In-class animation screenings will complement the hands-on experience.

Bookmakers

Become the author and illustrator of your own unique story! Express yourself through words and pictures, while learning about famous author-illustrators such as Eric Carle, David Weisner, and Maurice Sendak. Take inspiration from their distinctive styles to create your own books. Experiment with collage, tell a story without words, and explore imaginative lands and extraordinary creatures only you can make!

Recycled Robots (Ages 8-10)

In this class, perfect for all young makers and artists, you’ll stretch the limits of your imagination as you up-cycle materials to design, build, and program your own robots. Get creative with traditional arts supplies and techniques, then learn programming basics using Hummingbird and Makey-Makey kits. You’ll use servos, sensors, and LEDs to make your robot creation come alive!
