—————-

Biota refers to the plant and animal life of a region, the particular biological community that forms as a response to physical environment and climate.

In the exhibition, the works not only feature flora, fauna, and figures—life in its many forms—but the artists themselves represent the creative biome born out of Pittsburgh’s own distinctness. We are a city nestled amidst Appalachia, steel and industry juxtaposed with lush woods in a region that is ever-changing.

With this exhibition, we invite you to consider biota as creative community, and to consider your distinct place within it.
