Storytelling with Zines

In this workshop, participants will explore the history, making, and sharing of zines. Zines are self-published booklets that share ideas, art, poetry, comics, and resources without the barrier of high costs or professional publishers. Zines come in many shapes and sizes, with the most common style being an 8-page booklet made from a single piece of 8.5×11-inch paper. This workshop aims to provide participants with techniques to: fold and make zines out of paper; generate ideas to fill the pages; develop a short story narrative; and make copies to share with their friends and community. At the end of the workshop, participants will make a portfolio to store their zines, and an extra copy of one of their zines to put in the Little Free Library outside PCA&M!
